The UHU Motif

Kradschützen-Batailon “Großdeutschland” was commanded by Horst von Usedom from April 1, 1942 until early October 1942. The Battalion became known as Usedom’s Hussars and adopted the owl motif; uhu being the German word for eagle owl.
