The Black Prince (A43) was a variant of the Churchill tank, armed with a 17-pdr main gun. The larger gun needed a larger turret and subsequently a larger hull to accommodate it. The Black Prince was ten tons heavier than the Churchill and its maximum speed was only 10.5 mph. Six prototypes were built but it never gone into production.
